• Increase sensitivity by getting rid of collimators (can get photons from many angles at the same time)

• Increase sensitivity by using 5/8ä or 1ä crystals instead of 3/8ä crystals

• Can still do regular SPECT imaging (get a reduction in resolution because of thicker crystals)

• Coincidence circuitry not too expensive (system cost $800,000)
